Part of the Marais Mouillé (wet marshes), located at the border of Deux-Sèvres, Vendée and Charente-Maritime, the Marais Sauvage (wild marshland) forms a reserve of 100 hectares that was set up after the rest. Starting from the Maison des Champs, you can take the "chemins blancs" to travel across this area sprinkled with creeks and lined by the Canal du Mignon.
Located in the wildest part of Marais Poitevin known as "Venise Verte" (Green Venice), it offers many marvellous discoveries. Its canals, creeks, channels and ditches cover more than one tenth of the entire Marais Mouillé (wet marshes). You will discover an impressive green cathedral made up of countless ash trees, willows and poplars.
